Enchanting landscape over a vast territory
Rivers and stars form an exceedingly beautiful garland
Crowned by the Himalayas, the sea at her foot
Beloved India is in every way spectacular.

A reservoir of wealth that flows in prominent streams,
This India is comparable to the abode of Gods
Ballads of her untarnished fame are sung in foreign lands
Beloved India is forever venerated.

I hope you enjoyed the song better with the translation. If you did, please follow my blog and share with your friends and family. Thank you!
This is great. Thank you. It's beyond translation in true sense. Excellently articulated with the meaning behind the words. I did know the gist and in bits and peicies. Your translation gave a complete understanding and hence raised my chest with pride and happiness for the Bharat Mate. Cheers and look forward for more blogs to follow
ReplyDeleteI am glad the purpose of the post has been accomplished. Thank you.
DeleteYou are a rockstar!! Wish your blogs pace up the roller coaster ride with speed and passion upwards only without ever having to come down. Your deep passion to live life is evident from the spectrum of things you have done and achieved. A teacher, a transcriptionist, a home maker, etc. etc. You rock and wish you great success in pursuing the passion to write. Cheer

ReplyDeleteThough Bharat is a name all of us, including me, are proud of, I have translated this poem for the benefit of the international community. I want the whole world to know how rich our heritage is and the international community knows us as India, so the word India in the translation

Thanks a ton....added soul to the tears.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you liked it
DeleteGood one
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your translation from Sanskriti to English. Wish to play this in the school assembly on the theme 'Nation First'. So proud to be an Indian yet ashamed because only English was encouraged in school when I was a student myself. Hence, never got the opportunity to ever learn the rich and sweet ancient Indian language Sanskrit.🙏🏾
ReplyDeleteI am glad you like it. From your comment, I gather that you are a school teacher. My personal opinion is that you display a print out of the translation on the notice board before playing the song so the students can get a gist of the theme.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a translation of this for so long and am glad I finally found it. It is sung so beautifully with perfect pronunciation. Everytime I listen to this song, I cry. I find it so soothing. And now I know what it means, thanks to your translation. Thankyou so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I could be of help. Please follow my blog for more.
